Parent LetterAbove is a letter I created as an introduction to my students' parents. When I started student teaching, the students were instructed to take this letter home to their parents/guardians as the initial step to creating a positive communication.

Student LetterAbove is a letter I created as an introduction to my students as I take over their classroom. When I started student teaching, we read this letter as a class and then took some time to answer any questions that they had. They also had the opportunity to share anything about themselves as well.

Reflection | Letter to Parents and Students
This artifact is two different letters that I wrote to parents and students at the start of student teaching. In the letter, I conveyed relevant information about my expectations and goals for the semester. It also served as the first formal introduction to parents/guardians and my students. As part of the student teaching experience, I wanted to become a part of the community, and thus this allowed me to take on a more professional role.
I chose these two introductory letters as my artifact because they exhibit professionalism by reaching out to parents/guardians and my students. This was my first step in setting a professional relationship in my student teaching experience.
This artifact meets this standard because I introduced myself in order to exhibit professionalism by reaching out to parents and students. I used this opportunity to showcase my leadership and willingness to accept that role as an educator.
This artifact is an appropriate representation of this standard because it opens the lines of communication to parents and students enabling me to act as the professional that I want to be.
This artifact represents my personal growth and development as a teacher because through my curriculum and instruction coursework, I developed my philosophy of teacher. It was through this experience as well as additional class time that enabled me to transcribe my philosophy and expectations into these letters.
This artifact indicates my performance of the standard because I effectively reached out in order to communicate what I deemed as necessary information to parent and students. Through this act parents/guardians, students, and my teacher saw my ability and desire to stand out as a leader in my own professional development.

Reflection | Mid-State Reading Council Conference
This artifact is the copy of the CPDU form for a summer conference that I attended by the Mid-State Reading Council. At the conference, I experienced a professional community of teachers and learned new skills and practices to use in my teaching. By watching an experienced professional present on how he teaches reading and writing, I learned many new ways to teach both skills that I could transfer to my teaching style.
I chose this artifact for this standard because in this experience I volunteered my time to help other professionals and engage in teaching in a different way. I was not acting as a teacher, but as a professional amongst professionals there to learn more about what I can do to become an outstanding teacher.
This artifact meets this standard because I reached out to the community by not only helping out at a conference but also attending in order to develop a better sense of professionalism.
This artifact is an appropriate representation of this standard because attending conferences and connecting with other teachers is one path for me to continue professional growth and improvement. Upon finding a job, I hope to find more ways to become involved professionally by joining membership groups like the Mid-State Reading Council.
