My objective is to help students understand the value of learning. Education, to me, is the process of learning to think for yourself and then continue thinking for yourself in the avenues that allow you to work passionately. For me, that means following my passion of literature and language by being an English teacher.
My last 2 years of teaching have shown me that fulfilling a sense of wonder in students is not only one of the most important things to do, but also the hardest. For some students, learning to love literature is easy. For others, it takes time of trying, trying, and then trying some more until they can find a story that matches their soul. Within this position, I was able to become part of the community by really connecting with the students and helping to support their passions. I felt best supportive of them when I attended their games and coached them in speech. Speech teams was a new, but incredibly rewarding position for me because I got to see the magic of passion flourish. Someday, I look forward to completing my Masters degree in Curriculum and instruction or in English Literature. I haven't yet decided which best suits me, but continuing my education will happen once I have a better sense of where my future lies. |
